Come join us on an adaptive hiking experience!
Adaptable Outdoors offers hiking experiences for people with physical and/or cognitive challenges. For those with cognitive challenges, we can provide volunteer support, local knowledge, and expertise on the trail. The hikes take place on trails in Castle Provincial Parks, Beauvais Lake and Waterton Lakes National Park. The exact hiking location will be determined based on the client's goals, the ability of the group, and trail conditions. We will contact you with the exact location before the day.
For those with mobility challenges, we can provide a TrailRider and volunteer support to push and pull the TrailRider. The number of volunteers required for TrailRider hiking depends on the type of hike (distance, elevation, terrain).
Any experience you book with Adaptable Outdoors...
Our goal is to create a safe and fun adventure! All levels of experience and ability are welcome. Adaptable Outdoors staff and volunteers provide support as needed. Registration is open to children (ages 5+), adults and seniors living with physical and/or cognitive disabilities. We ask that children under the age of 12 be accompanied by a parent/guardian or caregiver. Family members, friends, or caregivers are welcome to attend with the participant. All people attending our programs must be registered on this site, please ensure to click the "Add Another Registrant" button at the bottom of the page to register all people attending. If you are registering for the client and yourself, please register for the client first to ensure they have a spot.
Adaptable Outdoors staff/volunteers do not provide personal care (eg. feeding/toileting). For clients of any age needing assistance with personal care, we require that a caregiver be present.
To enquire about a private experience or a date not listed here, please contact us at [email protected] or 403-632-4749 (while we try our best to accomodate requests, availability of prviate experiences is dependant on the volunteer support and other resources available).
If you are a new client, you will be asked to complete an online client assesment form once you have booked. A phone number is also required for booking as clients caregivers may also be contacted for a short phone consult before the program day, so we can ensure we provide the right equipment for your needs.
