What Adaptable Outdoors offers participants...
Our goal is to create a safe and fun adventure welcoming all levels of experience and abilities open to children (ages 4+), adults and seniors living with physical and/or cognitive disabilities. We have various gripping aids, a remote-control casting boat, an all-terrain wheelchair and an electric fishing rod/reel that allows the user to reel in a fish with the touch of a button, flick of the head, stomp of the foot or sip of a straw. Whatever their needs, we can adapt and introduce our clients to the joys of fishing.
Adaptable Outdoors staff/volunteers do not provide personal care (eg. feeding/toileting). For clients of any age needing assistance with personal care, we ask that a caregiver be present.
To Volunteer for Adaptive Fishing with Adaptable Outdoors...
Adaptable Outdoors volunteers provide support and assistance as needed. We ask that our volunteers have some fishing experience to assist our clients to cast, net fish & change out lures. Staff will provide safety protocols and procedures before each adaptive fishing activity begins.
~ Location for Shore Fishing: Our shore fishing experiences take place in either Pincher Creek, Payne Lake (Cardston County) or Lethbridge, please check the location listed for the session you are registering for. We will inform you of the exact location immediately after we have determined the needs of the registered clients.
